Obituary of Steven Wayne Dennis

Steven Wayne Dennis Services will be held in Santa Cruz on Wednesday for Steven Dennis who passed away unexpectedly in Santa Cruz on July 19, 2012. Born to Leo Wayne Dennis and Betty Joy Dennis in San Jacinto, California, he was raised in Felton and graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in 1973. Mr. Dennis earned his bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from the University Nevada in Reno in 1977. He spent his early childhood in the forest of Henry Cowell State Park where his dad was a ranger. He retired as a Sergeant from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department after 31 years of service. Steve lived his whole life in Felton, and when not at home, loved to camp at fish at Davis Lake. He was a big fan of the San Francisco Giants, and loved to watch baseball and football with his family and friends. He was a former volunteer firefighter with Felton Volunteer Fire Department and served as a director on the Felton Fire Protection District for 15 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Laurie Dennis, his daughters; Katie Dennis, Carly Dennis, and Emily Dennis; sister, Judy Anderson; niece, Jaime Terry and his brother in-law, Jim Anderson. He was preceded in death by his father Leo Wayne Dennis in 1997, and his mother, Betty Joy Dennis in 2002. Services will be on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel beginning at 10 a.m. A reception will immediately follow at Felton Fire Station. Burial at Felton District Cemetery will be private. Any kind acts of charity may be made in Steve's memory to the Felton Volunteer Fire Department.
