Obituary of Kathyn K Wilkes

Kathyn K. Wayne Wilkes (Kathy), 59, died May 4, 2010 at Dominican Hospital, Santa Cruz, California. The last 15 years of her life were a series of medical miracles but on May 4 her courageous heart failed and God took her from us. Kathy was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, the daughter of Robert Wayne and Dorothy Gunderson Wayne. Kathy graduated from Westmont High School, Campbell, California class of 1968. Kathy married the love of her life at the Olowalu Plantation House in Maui, June 2000. He was her strength and her delight. Kathy and Danny enjoyed their family and friends in California, Florida and Australia. Kathy lived in Australia for 6 years and enjoyed returning frequently to visit her friends there. Kathy is survived by her husband, Danny Wilkes, her mother, Dorothy Gunderson Wayne, her father, Robert Wayne, her sister, Cynthia Wayne Dickel, her brother-in-law David Dickel, her beloved grandson, Jordan Grenier and his parents Danielle and Matthew Grenier and many relatives and close friends in California, Minnesota, Florida, Texas and Australia. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Gunderson Wayne. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at 4 pm at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga Street, Santa Cruz. In lieu of flowers, please give gifts in her memory to Santa Cruz Humane Society, a place dear to her heart.
