Obituary of Lizabeth Grant

Services will be held in Aptos on November 3, for Lizabeth Grant who passed away into the loving arms of Jesus Christ at her Santa Cruz home on October 13, 2013 at the age of 61. Born on Coronado Island in San Diego, where she met and later married her husband, Stephen Hill Grant. Liz and Steve moved to Santa Cruz in 1971. She and her husband were long time active members of the Santa Cruz Longboard Union and Liz loved the ocean. Liz's energy for raising her family and keeping her home was admired by all who knew and loved her. Fond family memories of the wonderful gourmet meals she prepared for her friends and family, and the beautiful flowers and produce she grew in her garden will forever be cherished. A talented seamstress, she designed and made clothes for family and charities. Liz is survived by her husband of 42 years, Stephen "Bear" Grant; her daughter and son-in-law, Bree and Bryan Bode, and her son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Sara Grant, and her grandson, Jacob Allen Grant, all of whom reside in Santa Cruz. She also leaves her four sisters: Linda Niles-Skinner of San Diego, Patti Shoemaker of Soquel, Janet Lee Short of Solano Beach, and Leslie G. Parkinson of San Diego, along with many loving nieces, nephews and extended family including her brother- in-law, Jeffrey A. Grant, sister- in-law, Cynthia MacDonald and stepmother, Christine Parkinson. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Captain Donald Parkinson (US Navy ret.) and Jean Parkinson, and her father-in- law and mother- in-law, Commander James A. Grant (US Navy ret.) and Nancy Jean Grant.
