Joseph Leibovitz

Obituary of Joseph Leibovitz

After a few years, retirement began to pall on him so he began working for Meals on Wheels, Community Bridges. He worked full time for many years and then worked part time as a substitute and continued as a volunteer until his death. He enjoyed welcoming newcomers to the lunch program. He had a droll sense of humor that was appreciated by both young and old. He loved to bowl, to fish at Loch Lomond, to tinker and repair gadgets, and to play cribbage. In 1999 he married Penny and became part of her family. Since the bowling alley soon left Felton he had time to attend water polo games, have family fish fries, and to plant a garden. He was especially proud of his home made fig jam and donated jars each month for the Birthday raffle at the SLV Senior Center. He was also the coffee maker and ticket taker at the monthly Pancake Breakfast at the Center. He was preceded in death by his son Mark, his parents, his brother Leon, and his sisters Dolores and Ruth. He is survived by his wife Penny, nieces and nephews and their families, Mark's mother Rita, numerous extended family members and many, many old friends. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to your favorite charity or to Community Bridges or S.L.V. Senior Center in Joe's name.
