Obituary of David Thomas King

David Thomas King passed away from heart complications on February 5, 2013 in Santa Barbara. He was 42 years old. David was born on July 5, 1970 to Gerald & Laura"Margaret" King. They raised him in Santa Cruz, and David attended Holy Cross Elementary. In his youth David was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and even earned the title of Eagle Scout at the age of 18. He attended Harbor High and graduated in 1988. After graduating high school, David spent two years in Lake Tahoe, CA, where he worked as a ski lift operator at Heavenly Ski Resort. After his brief time in Tahoe he decided to move to Santa Barbara where he attended Santa Barbara City College to study photography. During his time in school David began working as an Inventory Control Manager at Samy's Camera. He was also able to turn his talent & passion for photography into a career as a photographer for the Santa Barbara News Press. David really liked being outdoors and being active. He fished, went camping often, played baseball and football, and he also enjoyed the time he got to spend in his garden. David is survived by; his wife, Emily Ishikawa; his parents Gerald and Margaret King; his three brothers, Michael, Stephen, and Richard King; his 3 aunts, and 1 uncle. David is also survived by many friends from childhood and also from his time in Santa Barbara. David valued all of his friendships and often referred to many of his friends as "brothers." A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Felton, on Friday, February 15th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. David was loved by all who knew him and, his family will forever cherish the love and memories he left them with. He will forever be remembered as a man who had a kind heart and, always tried his best to help others. He will be truly missed.
