Obituary of Guang Shi

Guang Shi (Cathy Thayer) Services will be held in Aptos on September 9th for Guang Shi (Cathy Thayer) who passed away peacefully at Dominican Hospital on August 22, 2011. "Cathy" as she was affectionately known to her friends and loved ones, had battled cancer for the past 3 years. Born in Fushun, China, she was 37 years old. Moving to Santa Cruz from China 10 years ago, she worked as a waitress, sales associate and was studying to be a dental assistant at the time of her passing. Her family will forever remember her love for shopping, and her ability to always get the best deal. Cathy's sparkling personality was a characteristic of hers that could not be missed, as she truly was able to light up a room and bring happiness to any occasion. She and her husband attended Twin Lakes Church. Cathy was recently baptized in the ocean during one of the church's baptism ceremonies. She is survived by her Husband, Bill Thayer of Santa Cruz, her Son, Brad Thayer of San Jose, her Daughter, Aimee Thayer-Garcia of Santa Cruz, and Son, Ian Thayer of Cupertino. She also leaves her grandchildren Lilly, Leo and Micha Garcia of Santa Cruz. Father, Shi Dai Shun, Mother, Qin Xiu Ying, Brother, Shi Shao Pung and sister, Shi Lan all reside in China. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 9th at Monschke Hall located on the Twin Lakes Church Campus ( 2701 Cabrillo College Drive in Aptos) beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will take place in China at a later date.
