Obituary of Joyce McClure Johnson

Born on 8/22/1941 to loving parents Preston and Leota McClure. She was raised, along with siblings Don and Winnie in Abilene, Texas. Graduated with honors from the University of Texas. Shortly thereafter she moved, along with husband Richard and young son Adam, to California. Shortly after moving to San Jose she welcomed a daughter, Kim, into the family. The family settled in Aptos in 1978, her home for the last 34 years. She was a longtime active member of LWV and AAUW. She was a voracious reader, writer and poet and participated in local writing groups and workshops. A life long learner, and lover of the arts, she regularly attended music and theater performances throughout the bay area. Travel was a passion, especially when it involved seeing her grandchildren. She will live forever in the hearts and memories of her husband Richard Johnson, her children Adam Johnson and Cecelia Kim McGregor and their spouses Asako Nakauchi and Che McGregor. Her grandchildren Marcus, Mira and Iris know how fortunate they are to have been showered with her loving attention. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 3-6pm at Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, CA. A brief remembrance will begin at 3:30. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emily's List or the National Audubon Society.
