Obituary of Sallie Jean Millang

Sallie J. Millang passed on February 3, 2013 at Aegis of Aptos. She was 89. Sallie was born in San Francisco, California on November 19, 1923 the daughter of William M. Nelson and Murial D. (Cosgrove) Nelson. She grew up in San Francisco, attending local schools and later graduated from San Francisco City College. As a young woman she met the love of her life while vacationing in Capitola, David H. Millang. Waiting for Dave to complete his military duty, the couple married in 1945. She lived in San Francisco, San Mateo and Cupertino before moving to Aptos in the mid 1970's. Described by her family as a loving and devoted, wife, mother and grandmother, she always carried herself with dignity. She was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church where she participated in the Women's Guild. She was a talented seamstress and artist who made beautiful clothing and created many beautiful paintings. She also loved working in her garden. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, David H. Millang on January 11of this year. She is survived by her son, Richard Millang of Watsonville; two daughters, Melanie Montgomery of Falls Church, VA and Christine Heinbockel of Meadow Valley, CA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and leaves several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William M. Nelson, Jr. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Resurrection Catholic Church, 7600 Soquel Dr.,Aptos, CA on Thursday February 7 at 11:00 am.
