Obituary of Harold D. Zachary

Harold Duane Zachary passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83, on Sept 24 2011, after a long illness. Born in Brownfield Texas, he moved to California in 1944 and lived in Santa Cruz and Boulder Creek. Harold served in the US Merchant Marines and became a Meat Cutter by trade until his retirement. He was a long time business man and taught Business Principles at local colleges. He was active in church, a member of Toastmasters Intl, an avid Giants fan, and enjoyed land, sea and air adventures in his motor home, houseboat and his airplane. He became a writer in his later years and left a legacy of many short stories. Harold is survived by his wife Betty of 61 years, his daughters Valerie, Katherine, Debra and Tricia and his grandchildren Ian, Nathan and Hailey. He never met a stranger, and will be missed by all who knew him. A private service will take place on Friday afternoon, September 30, 2011.
