Obituary of Don Darryl Byrd

Don Byrd July 2, 1942-June 20, 2012 Don Darryl Byrd moved from Omaha, Nebraska in 1958 to Santa Cruz. He attended Santa Cruz High School and Cabrillo College. Don served in the US Navy, stationed at Pearl Harbor. He worked at the Santa Cruz Sentinel for 36 years. He coached for 20 plus years for youth baseball and basketball in the area. He has 2 sons, Rick Byrd of Aptos and Gus Byrd of Gilroy. Preceding him in death were 3 brothers, Richard, Rodney and Robert Byrd; and his Godson, Gregg Wagner. He leaves his sister-in-laws, Patricia and Jeannine Byrd; his 2 grandsons Ricky and Lucas; 2 granddaughters Sierra and Pricilla; 2 step-grandsons Anthony and Kai.
