Janet Evans

Obituary of Janet Goss Evans

Mrs. Evans was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Winnetka and Aurora, Illinois, graduating from Aurora High School in 1936. She attended the University of Illinois and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She married Robert B. Evans in 1943, and they remained married for 59 years until his death in 2003. In addition to being a housewife and raising the couple's two children, Mrs. Evans worked for many years in the banking industry, holding various positions, primarily as a general ledger bookkeeper in a branch office. Mrs. Evans loved her family very much! She liked to spend her leisure hours reading or watching the Dodgers or the Braves on TV, as she was a big baseball fan. She also enjoyed watching and playing golf, and she had a hole-in-one when she was in her sixties. Mrs. Evans is survived by her son, Jack and daughter-in-law, Tyese, of Roseville; her daughter, Gail, of Santa Cruz; her granddaughters, Kristin Smith (Scott) and Kara Bonney (Jesse); her great granddaughter, Tiana Smith, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her daughter-in-law, Gail's life-partner, Jean Hart, as well as her brother, Jack Goss. Her family wishes to express its gratitude and thanks to the staff at Pacific Coast Manor for the care they provided during the seven years that Mrs. Evans resided there. While no services are planned, contributions are preferred to the Hospice Caring Project, Santa Cruz. Arrangements are by Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel.
