Obituary of Richard Clarence Kesling

Richard "Dick" Kesling passed away in Santa Cruz on April 1st at the age of 84. Dick was raised in Delta, Colorado by Arthur and Gertrude Kesling. As a young man Dick joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a Seaman First Class in World War Two. Once discharged from the Navy, Dick began his 38 year career as a U.S. Postal Carrier in Watsonville and Freedom. Dick had many hobbies including fishing, gardening and watching old movies. He loved to dance with his wife Bernice and, he especially enjoyed watching the 49ers or the Giants play at home with his family. Dick was an active member in his local American Legion and donated his time to the Veteran's Affairs Hospital during his brief time in Prescott, Arizona. Dick will be greatly missed by all who knew him especially his daughter, Edie (Marvin) Rusler, his daughter-in-law Judy Kesling, his 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Bernice, his daughter Janet Kesling, and his son Dan Kesling. A graveside service will take place on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Valley Public Cemetery (2431 E. Lake Rd., Watsonville) beginning at 11:00 a.m. in lieu of flowers please make donations in Dick's name to your local American Legion.
