Obituary of Vera J. Kachel

Vera J. Kachel passed away at her home in Santa Cruz on January 15, 2013. She was 97. Vera was born in Spokane Washington on May 12, 1915, the daughter of Ralph Cozetto and Mary (Sacco) Cozzetto. She was raised in Spokane and also lived in Seattle Washington before moving to Santa Cruz in 1955. She worked as a sales manager for J.S. Penny for many years. Vera was described by her family as a great mom and a wonderful friend. She was a strong woman and was able to live independantly until becoming in in September. She enjoyed traveling, including to twice a year trips to Reno, an Alaskan tour and trips to the east coast and Hawii. She enjoyed shopping at the Capitola Mall and playing Pinochle with her friends. She also loved tending her roses and planting annual spring time flowers and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, August Kachel and ten siblings. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and William Sailor of Santa Cruz; one sister living in Spokane, Washington and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held for family and friends on Tuesday January 22, 2013 at 10:00 am at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, CA.
