Obituary of Mike Stott

A memorial mass will be celebrated in Santa Cruz on Friday, May 11, 2012, for Mike Stott who passed away peacefully at his Santa Cruz home on May 7, 2012. Born in Inglewood, California, he moved to Oakland at age 18 and lived most of his life in the East Bay Area. He married Patricia Bell in 1964, raised their family in Oakland, while enjoying the beach house for family getaways. Mike and Pat permanently moved to the Santa Cruz home in 2009. Working as an electrical engineer with P.G & E. for more than 28 years in the East Bay, Mike retired in 1993. In addition, he joined the US Coast Guard Reserve in 1963, and after 25 years retired with the rank of Commander. He loved watching all sports, in particular, supporting family members - he was the #1 fan for many. He loved golfing, wine tasting and travel. He loved his family and friends and always a good party. He and Pat were travelers and fond memories will be cherished of their many trips with friends. Mike is survived by his wife Pat of 48 years, his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Roger Kuhl of Eugene, OR; his sons and daughters-in-law; John and Jeannie Stott of San Leandro, CA, Dan and Jane Stott of Milan, OH, and Matthew and Joanna Stott of Novato, CA. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Chris, Kevin, Emily, Ryan, Elle, Claire, Daniel, and Nate. Mike leaves two brothers, Tom Stott of Idyllwild, CA., and Robert Stott of Oakland, CA. The mass will be celebrated at Villa Maria Del Mar Chapel, East Cliff and 19th Ave., beginning at 11:30 a.m. To light a candle and share your thoughts and prayers with his family, please visit www.pacificgardenschapel.com .
