Obituary of Gloria Fambrini Favor

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday April 30, at St. Joseph's Church in Capitola for Gloria Favor who passed away peacefully on April 23 at her Santa Cruz home with her beloved family at her bedside. Born in San Francisco, she was 93 years old. Gloria graduated from Balboa High School in San Francisco, and earned her PhD from Taylor University in Colorado Springs in Biopsychology. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose life will be remembered as one who served others. Gloria worked as a Gerontologist and devoted her life to care and ministry of seniors both in nursing homes and those suffering through other personal trials and tribulations. For more than 35 years, she was the director of Senior Ministries at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola. Gloria leaves many dear friends and colleagues in the Santa Cruz area; especially in her church family where in her quiet unassuming way, helped educate health care professionals and the community at large about the process of aging. Gloria continuously gave others hope through her faith and dedication. Gloria is survived by her son, Larry Favor of Santa Cruz, her granddaughter, Sunday Scarpulla, her grandson, Damon Favor, and her beloved great grandchildren: Enzo, Nico, Nathan, and Emily Margaret Rose. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister. The mass will be on Wednesday April 30, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church (435 Monterey Ave.) in Capitola beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
