Obituary of Geraldine Marlow

On Sunday January 22nd, friend, mother and wife Geraldine Marlow was called home to heaven after suffering from complications related to adult onset Leukemia. Geraldine "Gerry" was a happy and quick witted 85 years old at her passing. Born Geraldine Martinson to Mr. & Mrs. Charles E. Martinson in San Francisco on September 2nd, 1926. Geraldine was raised and attended school in the San Francisco-Oakland as well as the Los Angeles area before moving and settling in Santa Cruz with her first husband and father of her 2 children Richard Alfred Wegener. Gerry held a variety of occupations matching her social personality including a telephone operator, finally deciding to work alongside her third husband Robert Marlow in the fishing industry. Gerry was a very active in her life; she loved dancing and exercising (especially swimming). She was an avid lover of animals, often donating to different animal rescue foundations. Gerry was a loyal member of her bible study group and parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola. Through her church Gerry had the opportunity to travel to Europe where she had the occasion to see the Vatican, and it was also through her religious studies and commitment to the Catholic Church that Geraldine made charitable contributions to many organization to that she held close to her heart. Gerry was much loved by her fellow church goers, family and especially the group of friends and caregivers that she lovingly referred to as "The Tribe" that were with her in her final months and days. They will carry fond memories of a woman who had a witty sense of humor and was always ready for a good laugh. Geraldine is survived by her son, Richard Alfred Wegener III of Glenco, CA, daughter Reverend Kathy Hlatshwayo of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Geraldine is preceded by her beloved husband Robert Marlow and their favorite cat Isis. An intention will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church this Sunday, February 5th at 11:00 am.
