Obituary of Arline Mary Cross

Arline Cross passed away on June 7, 2013 at Driftwood Convalescent Hospital. She was 79. She was born in Kansas on May 29, 1934 to Elsie and Lambert Walsh. As a child she lived in a number of places due to her father's career as a Colonel in the US Air Force. She settled with her family in San Jose where she attended high school and San Jose State where she met her future husband, Jack Cross. The couple married on September 7, 1958. The couple moved to Santa Cruz and bought their first home in Capitola where she made a home for her family and raised her children. She and Jack later began investing in real estate where she was actively involved in cleaning, painting, renting and bookkeeping. Following retirement she and Jack visited many exotic countries including, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, China, New Zealand and Australia. She is survived by her husband, Jack Cross; her two children, Jack Cross, Jr and his wife, Kay and Shelly Marie Cross-Herrera; five grandchildren, Jack, Jr., Alex and Kasey Cross and Sarah and Mitchell Herrera; two sisters, Betty Sirels and Mary Witrykus; she is also survived by two nieces, Marilyn Witrykus and Cindy Witrykus and three nephews, Michael Witrykus, John Witrykus and Gary Sirles. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Ave., Capitola, CA on Friday June 14, 2013 at 10:00 am. A reception will immediately follow the Mass at St. Joseph's Church Parish Hall. A visitation will be held at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga St., Santa Cruz, CA. on Thursday from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm. A private interment will take place at Santa Cruz Memorial Park, Santa Cruz, CA.
