Obituary of Irene McCarty

Irene McCarty Mar 10, 1919 - Feb 5,2013 Resident of Soquel Irene was born in Ryegate, Montana, the fifth of five daughters. Her father died when she was an infant, her mother when Irene was almost 16. She stayed with her step father until graduating from high school. Two of her sisters had moved to Berkeley and asked Irene to move out here. At that time she worked for a family as a cook/maid and at a fountain. She met Mac and 2 1/2 months later they were married. They enjoyed many good times and travels until his death 43 years later. She has been a widow for 30 years, because no one else could compare to Mac. They moved to Santa Cruz in 1949 and started McCarty Paint Co, where they manufactured and sold paint. She is survived by her children Linda and Dan and their families. Linda is married to Doug Mitchell and Dan is married to KC. Grandchildren include Glen Kristi Mitchell, Jess Lisa Mitchell, Lisa Todd Allen Aaron Karen McCarty. She also leaves 5 great grandchildren, Sierra and Hunter Allen. Joshua, Daniel, Meagan Mitchell. She loved them all and told them often. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Irene also leaves many dear friends. Irene was involved with her children's schools PTA, 4H, and Bible Study Fellowship. She was a member of Twin Lakes Church. Irene loved music and would sing often and turn on her music and just dance through her house. A memorial will be held at 1:00 pm Monday February 11 at Twin Lakes Church, 2701 Cabrillo College Drive, Aptos, CA Pastor Rene Schlaepfer officiating, casual attire welcome. Donations to Twin Lakes Church Children's Ministry preferred over flowers. Thank you.
