Obituary of Eufrosina Vazquez Marquez

Eufrosina Mrquez "Mami China," Born January 1, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri. Beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Eufrosina, her brothers and parents relocated to Guanajuato, Mexico when she was only five years old. There she grew up, met and married the love of her life Julio Mrquez. It was there that they proceeded to have and raise ten of her eleven children (She lost her first son within his first year of life). She came to Santa Cruz for the first time to visit her brother who lived nearby and fell in love with the area. She relocated, with her husband and youngest children to Santa Cruz in 1969; her older children soon followed. She and her husband were proud to have raised responsible children and to have purchased a home a few blocks from West Cliff Drive. That home was, because she and her husband were the heart of the family, to become a center to which the family always returned. You could see visitors there daily. Whether her children, grandchildren of multiple generations or friends, she welcomed them all especially on Saturday evening when multiple generations would gather. All went there just to see them and yet Mami China never allowed anyone to leave without eating. Mami China was known in her family for her quiet strength and determination. Eufrosina Mrquez is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Julio Mrquez, her children Alberta De la Rosa (Candelario), Gloria Padilla (Jose), Oliva Morales (Pedro), Eva Cordero (Jose de la luz), Guillermo Mrquez (Aurelia), Patricia Espinoza (Jose), Francisco Mrquez (Belinda), Sonia Mrquez (Rafael Ramrez), Maria de Lourdes (Noe Glmez), and Belia Mrquez (Gerardo Acosta), her brothers Crispin Vasquez, Antonio Vasquez, Leo Vasquez (Beatriz), Salvador Vasquez (Celia), 36 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mami China will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
