Obituary of Daniel Edward Sonrise Jedlenski

Daniel Sonrise Jedlenski Services will be held on June 17th in Los Gatos for Daniel Edward Sonrise Jedlenski who died of a heart attack at the Summit, on June 10, 2010. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was 72 years old. His years of education included: Denby High School in Detroit, and later the school of life through Mary to Jesus, University of Eucharistic Adoration and Advanced Studies in the Divine Will. Daniel Resided in many places including his native Detroit, Santa Cruz Mountains, Kansas City, MO, Mill Valley, and Napa, and in Santa Cruz. His jobs included construction work, lumber jack, caretaker, health food truck delivery service, hospital lab and physics researcher, inventor, and writer. His time here in Santa Cruz County found him joining a hermitage and becoming a monk; working as a caretaker in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He was a devout and faithful daily communicant at the Most Holy Sacrifice of the mass, praying every day for hours for the salvation souls and the reign of the Divine Will on earth as is in heaven. Daniel was the founder of St. Martin's Bread for the Poor, Rosary Ring Apostolate International, and Our Lady of Perpetual Light Candle Making. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sarah Sonrise of Santa Cruz, his daughters, Rose Vitug of Capitola, and Shekinah Love of Aptos. He also leaves four grandchildren: James, Sebastian, Gemma, and Forest; and his sister, Janice Steinke of Michigan. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Stanley Jedlenski and his sister, Sue. The Mass Requiem will be held at St. Aloysius Retreat Center (19101 Bear Creek Rd, Los Gatos CA. 95033) on Thursday June 17th beginning at 10 a.m. A reception will follow at the retreat center. (Modest attire with men's black slacks and women's long dresses and sleeves with veil should be observed for attending the requiem mass) Traditional burial and committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery (2271 7th Ave in Santa Cruz) beginning at 3 p.m. A sunset rosary will be recited with shared tributes to follow at Twin Lakes Beach following the burial.
