Byron Lee

Obituary of Byron Michael Lee

Byron Michael Lee March 5, 1960 - October 23, 2013 After several weeks of cancer treatments, our friend Byron passed away early on Wednesday, October 23. His passing was peaceful; he was at home with those he loved and those who loved him. Byron was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on March 5, 1960, which explains his enduring and, some would say, obsessive allegiance to the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots; and, to a lesser degree, the Boston Red Sox. As a child, he spent time in Spain and Germany until his family returned to the States in 1975. Byron graduated from Roseville High School, where he played basketball. He lived throughout California, having lived in Santa Cruz for the last 20 years. His leisure included the joy of playing sports; baseball, softball, basketball, and a shade tree while he fished. Music was very calming to him as he enjoyed a wide variety, just as long as it sounded good. He was very social, and striking up a conversation was very easy for Byron. Never short on words. Byron was a hard worker and an outstanding friend. Over his career, he worked for Chevron, Procter Gamble, and most recently Mercy Housing. He also had his own maintenance company: A & B Quality Service. He was always there for people, especially in times of challenges or trouble. We could always count on him. Byron is survived by his mother, Josephine Anton Lee; his father, William Lee; his brother, Jeffery Lee; his sister, Denise Lee; and his daughter, Cortnee Patterson. He has three grandchildren, several nieces, aunts, and uncles. He is also survived by his loving partner, Alexa Keihl. Alexa and the family request that, instead of sending flowers, friends make donations to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 90 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley, California 95066. Memorial services are pending.
