Ines Heyder

Obituary of Ines Heyder

On Wednesday July 24th, 2013 Ines Heyder passed away at her home in Watsonville from Cervical Cancer. She was 40 years old. Ines was born on October 13, 1972 in Illmenau, at that time a part of communist East Germany to Joachim Wolfgang Heyder, Engineer and Monika Gisela Heyder, Elementary School Teacher. As a child in the town of Gehren, she excelled at school as a perpetual straight-A student, and also enjoyed gymnastics, dancing, art and skiing. The fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification opened up many new opportunities for those living in the East, and Ines embraced them with amazing vigor. She entered the University in Jena and earned a degree in Business Management. She later earned a German CPA certification and an MBA. In 1997, she went to work for Hewlett Packard in Stuttgart, and by applying her immense intellect, boundless energy, and winning personality got promoted at record speed. She transferred to California in 1999, and by the time of her passing held the position of Senior Director at Hewlett Packard, a nearly impossible achievement given her young age. During her time in California, Ines developed many close friendships, and excelled at a range of sports and hobbies. She was an excellent diver, yoga practitioner, runner, sailor, photographer and artist. Ines spent much time in her later years learning about world religions in her search for the meaning of life and how to grow close to God. Her brother's and nephew's baptisms made a huge impact on her, and Ines accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 2012. We can all rest in the assurance that when we get to heaven, Ines will be there waiting for us. Ines is survived by her daughter Lily Marlene Matt, who she truly loved more than life itself, her parents Joachim and Monica Heyder, her brother Jan Heyder, his wife Maya and their son Laurens, her fiance Asgeir Berge, and Asgeir's children Luke and Ava Berge. Ines' Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday August 10th at 11 am at Twin Lakes Christian Church, 2701 Cabrillo College Drive, Aptos. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to www.clubdust.org, an organization close to Ines' heart.
