Obituary of Kristina Clare Morgan

Kristina passed away on Wednesday March 26th after losing a 5-week battle to overcome the injuries sustained in a serious car accident on Monday Feb 17th. Miraculously her daughter Korin, who was in the car at the time, was bruised but ok and was released from Watsonville emergency the next day. Kristina was born in South Korea and was adopted and given a loving home by James Fletcher Young and Donna Rae Young at the age of 9 joining four siblings, Dan, David, Kim and Jay. She quickly developed, learning English and a smattering of Spanish, independently memorized from watching TV. She was a determined young woman: home owner shortly after leaving Aptos High school and accomplished at everything she put her heart into. Other than managing a home and being a first-class mother, her primary passion was working out and keeping fit. She would often be seen rollerblading between Aptos and Santa Cruz and working out at Spa Fitness/In-Shape, where she ultimately became an aerobics instructor. She met her loving husband, Paul, at the age of 22 and they immediately fell in love. They were married in England in September 1999 at a memorable two-day outdoor affair. Their cherished Korin Sky was born a couple of years later on "the happiest day of her life." Tragedy struck with the death of her second child, Abbi Star, during childbirth a couple of years later. Kristina overcame this loss and focused on her family and friends. Her generosity was boundless and her innate ability to make others smile was infectious. Brother Danny observed, "A beautiful personality, so uninhibited and unfiltered. So free and alive. Not a calculating bone in her body. I would watch her work a room with envy, wishing I had such honesty. Her conversation and questioning of the unfamiliar would at times seem almost inappropriate. However, to those who know and love her, we just shake our heads in amazement at her sometimes unwanted observations. Foremost, a Wife and a Mother, a Daughter and a Sister, an Auntie and a cousin, a friend and confidant. That's a lot of titles for a little girl that came to this country with none of them, except for the biggest smile and heart we ever saw. Kristina melted our hearts and we love her." Husband Paul commented, "Kristina is my hero, my soul-mate, my confident, my lover and the best one-of-a-kind mother to Korin. We have been blessed with a perfect relationship and exceptional daughter and loved nothing more than each other's company, our trips to Hawaii, and our two German Shepherd dogs. One of Kristina's greatest passions was eating. Eating was second only to working out, a Yin Yang relationship. We have made many trips to Europe, but one of the big travel motivations for Kristina was Christmas dinner at my Grandmother's 'Nanny Old Bean' house. Kristina, you live on in your greatest gift to me, our daughter Korin." A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on April 12th. The service will commence at 10am at Pacific Gardens Chapel and the celebration will take place in the Meadow Ranch neighborhood park (Victoria Lane, Aptos, CA) from noon - 3pm.
