Obituary of Eleanor M Moran

Eleanor Otilia Moran Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother formerly of Capitola, California was called home to heaven on Tuesday, 11 October 2011 in Leavenworth, Kansas. Ellie was born in Fresno, California in 1915 during the month of July, to Otilia and Ernest Morehead. She lived most of her life in sunny California and spent her last years in Leavenworth, Kansas. Ellie was a faithful servant of the Lord and a devout Catholic. She was often referred to as an "Earthly Angel" for her loving and compassionate nature. Eleanor married the love of her life, Patrick Joseph Moran, on 14 July 1942. She was a war bride who waited faithfully at home in Monterey for the return of her husband during World War II. They raised five children together and Pat preceded her in death on 29 August 1989. Known for her love of life, Ellie appreciated every moment that God gave her. She spent her time playing tennis, volunteering and working in her garden. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. Blessed with a strong faith in the Lord, she prayed the rosary each day for her family and friends and others who requested prayers. Eleanor is survived by her five children: Patricia Di Leonardo (Anthony), Michael, Timothy (Pamela), Stephen, and Daniel (Brandi); nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and her godchild and namesake Eleanor who lives in Almaden. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Ernestine, infant granddaughter Riley, and daughter-in-law Marilyn. A rosary will be celebrated at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga Street, Santa Cruz at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20th. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, 21 October at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Ave, Capitola. Ellie will be interred at Felton Cemetery, Felton Empire Road, next to her beloved husband. Memorials in Eleanor's memory may be made to The Daisy Auxiliary and Birthright of Santa Cruz.
