Obituary of Patty Lutz
Patricia “Patty” Laurie Lutz
March 2, 1943 –October 2, 2022
Santa Cruz, California
Patricia died peacefully at her Santa Cruz, California home in the presence of her family. She was a native of Concord, Massachusetts.
Patricia attended Mount Auburn Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She earned her flight nurse credentials and served her country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War era, earning the rank of Captain.
While stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, Patricia met her husband-to-be, John Lutz. Following her military service, she worked at Mount Auburn Hospital as a Labor & Delivery nurse and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a research nurse.
Her husband re-enlisted as a military officer in the early 1980s and the family spent many years touring stateside and overseas before she and her husband retired to Florida.
Six years ago, she moved from Florida to California to be near her children. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and friends, talking and laughing, dancing, and going on ‘big rides.’ In her younger years, she was a quilter and a painter.
Patricia is survived by her daughter Katie Lutz of Aptos, her son Adam Lutz and daughter in law Lara Walker of La Selva Beach, and her two cats, Elliot and Finley.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Lutz, parents Lucy and Albert Harding, and siblings Judy Dee and Jeffrey Harding.
She will be cherished and remembered as a devoted mother and friend. Many fond memories will continue to be shared of her high jinks, tomfoolery, and sharp wit.
Feel free to share your memories of Patty for her family to enjoy.
