Barbara Jean Thompson

February17, 1942 – February 9, 2023

Barbara Jean Thompson lived a life full of love, laughter and generosity. Her dedication to her friends, her family, and her community cannot be explained by simply listing her accomplishments, so we will just go with the highlights:   teacher, guidance counselor, vice principal, and school board member for 20+ years;  married Jim Thompson on September 23, 1965;  loving mother to Lindsey and Stacey and adoring Nana to grandson Braxton; proud founding member of Women On The Loose and The Bag Ladies; prankster extraordinaire and card shark at gin and bridge.

Her legacy will be the love and laughter that she spread wherever she went. She was joy. She embraced life, meeting it with a ready pun and a cool cocktail. Please raise a glass to celebrate and remember the truly fanastic BARBARA!

Barbara was laid to rest in a private ceremony.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Barbara J. Thompson Scholarship fund for high school students administered by the Community Foundation.
