Thorne died peacefully at home with Hospice of Santa Cruz Care and remarkable neighbor’s care. Thorne had sadly suffered from Frontal Lobe Dementia for more than 10 years. He died May 16, 2023. Thorne was 77 years old.

Thorne started his automotive repair business instead. Thorne was known as The Honest Car Mechanic. He greatly cherished the warm and personal relationships he developed with those individuals. Besides car work the joy in Thorne’s life was his family. Spending time with them camping in the summer, sharing 49 football, Giants baseball and Warriors basketball. Christmas was a wonderful time with Thorne. His favorite music was Joan Baez and Sound of Music. Thorne’s favorite and only restaurant he would eat at was the original Restaurant Avanti. Many family celebrations and Sunday dinners were enjoyed there. Thorne was a very long- standing loyal customer of Kelly’s French Bakery.
