Obituary of Phyllis Helen Taylor

Phyllis Helen Taylor passed away in the night on June 30th, 2023; she was 89 years old.

Born on March 25th, 1934, to Virginia and Ferdinand Callsen in California. She attended San Francisco State and The University of Mexico, graduating with her teaching credentials.

She then taught in the Bay Area, Phyllis loved working with children, finding her passion in art and music. Later in life, she earned her real estate license and worked for Sherman & Boon in Capitola.

A longstanding item on her bucket list was to run her own bookstore, called Pages Books and Tutoring, which she opened in Capitola, returning to her roots and enriching young minds once again.

The best part of her life was spent travelling the world where she made many friends. Phyllis once again surprised everyone by publishing her own book “King’s Man” in 2018 at the age of 84 years old.

She leaves behind many loved ones, her children Nancy, Greg, and Steve, many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Phyllis is remembered by Carol and Loyd Echoles and their sons Adam and Ebrima. Phyllis will be missed by Sara Heldt and Tobias, Rachele and her family, and all her neighbors.

She is preceded in death by her parents Virginia and Ferdinand, her sister Gwen Bent, her husband Harry Taylor in 1966, and her stepson Bart Taylor in 2021.

Before she passed, she had the joy of seeing some of her beloved family, bringing peace and comfort in her final days. She lived a very full and joyous life, exploring all her interests and experiencing the world and what it has to offer.

Cheers to you Phyllis, you will be dearly missed.
