Obituary of Laurel Turner

On May 16, the largest heart in our family passed away peacefully, independently, and well loved.  Laurel Turner was an amazing sister, mother, grandmother, auntie, and friend who was tireless and generous with her time and talents.  She always put her family and others first.  Her exit was at home as she slipped away in her sleep, which was the perfect way to go now that global warming had ruined her plan to go off on an ice flow when she got too bad off, as she would often joke.
This Texan was a Cowgirl at heart who loved the music of Garth Brooks, rodeos, and old Western movies.  An old soul who was responsible and trustworthy which served her well for many years as a bookkeeper and property manager.  She also previously owned and managed a Scandinavian gift shop and a pizza parlor where hard work came second nature.
She loved traveling (Hawaii, Alaska, Europe), pulling her Shasta vintage trailer to the next adventure, or taking the motor home all over the country.  Whenever she would see a place featured or mentioned, she'd say, "I've been there" with a smile.

She was incredibly creative and jumped into painting, ceramics, wood carving, cooking, decorating, gardening and especially quilting.  As an active member and Past President of PVQA, she loved the annual quilt show and auction, PIQF, quilt retreats and workshops.  In recent years she took that passion to benefit foster children by making each one a quilt for their special adoption day as the fearless leader and quilting guru to her group Sew Little Timers and company for 9 years,  pillow cases for every foster child making memories at Camp Opportunity summer camp.  She also was part of Quilts of Valor for Veterans, Quilters for Hospice.

Her legacy of strength, thoughtfulness and her sense of humor lives on through her sister and brother Anita and Richard Martinez, daughter Denine Guy and her husband Berk Brannon, her deceased sons who she thought of and missed every day Ken Miller and Glen Guy (Christine), her grandchildren Berkley Brannon, Nolan Miller, Lauren Guy, Steven Guy,  Nephews Steve (Debbie) and Jeff Martinez and their families, Niece Sharine (Chris) Klostermann and her family, longtime friends the Nielsens & Andrews, her cat Isis, and special quilting friends Karen, Cheryl, Jean, Nancy N., Nancy G. , Joann, Kristie, Pat, Annie, Jamie, Linda, and Mac.  She also carried in her heart her long passed away parents Marie and Jim and baby Audrey.  A family celebration will be held in June.

She and her family thank the excellent care given by PAMF Dr.s Mach, Sturzu, Wang, Chen, and their teams, as well as El Camino Hospital and Saratoga Retirement Community doctors, RNs and CNAs for their kindness.

In the spirit and words of her childhood hero Roy Rogers, "Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again." sweet, loving soul.
In remembrance of her, do something kind for someone else or volunteer in your community, as that was the essence of who she was and will always be to all of us.
