Obituary of Elaine Mae Hedges

Elaine Hedges born in NY, NY November 15th 1933 passed away peacefully after a long illness on December 16th with her family by her side at the Family home in Scotts Valley CA. Elaine grew up in Queens NY until 1958 when she moved to La Honda CA with her husband Howard Hurlburt and 3 children. In 1972 Elaine and her children moved to Scotts Valley and she remarried in 1976 to David Hedges where they settled in Soquel CA . Elaine was employed by Santa Cruz County in several departments for over 30 years. Elaine belonged and volunteered for many clubs and organizations including Felton Bible Church, Goodwill Auxiliary , Santa Cruz/ Soquel Eastern Star Chapters, Mid County Senior Center, RPEA, Felton Valley Garden Club and the Santa Cruz Military Officers Association. Elaine enjoyed studying the bible, walking with her Mall Walkers, board games with her North Rodeo Gulch Mobile park friends, attending Twin Lakes Church functions, bird watching and baking for every occasion where she could. She enjoyed fulfilling her mission in life, to please God , her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Glenn Hurlburt and wife Kelley, daughter Laura Gray and husband James , her son David Hurlburt, Grandchildren, Joe, Tyler, Mariah, Lacey and Kirsten. Great Grandchildren, Ryleigh and Lilly. She was proceeded in death, by her parents Jean and John Beach, brother Jack Beach, daughter in law Jody Hurlburt and husbands Howard Hurlburt and David Hedges. A celebration of her life will be held on Jan 11th , 2014 @ 2:00pm at Felton Bible Church: 5999 Graham Hill Rd, Felton, CA 95018 831-335-3418 In lieu of flowers or donations, please donate to Hospice of Santa Cruz County who provided Elaine with respect and dignity during the last months of her life.
