Obituary of Francisco V. Padilla

Services will be held on Friday in Santa Cruz for Francisco Padilla who passed away in Tracy, California this past Monday. Born in Jalisco, Mexico, he was 57 years old. Mr. Padilla moved to Santa Cruz 40 years ago and for the past 30 years, was employed with Quilici Gardening. He leaves many dear friends and co-workers in the gardening and landscape business. He was a dedicated father and beloved family member of Rancho Nuevo. Many fond memories will be cherished of his love for the Chivas Guadalajara Soccer Team and the Oakland Raiders; never missing a game or match that they played. Mr. Padilla had a passion for ocean fishing, and the time spent with family and friends out on the Santa Cruz Wharf, were special moments for him. His family was of paramount importance to him, and he will be dearly missed by his loved ones. Mr. Padilla is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elaine Padilla, of Santa Cruz his daughter and son-in-law, Eva Lopez and Miguel Lopez, his grandchildren: Eric, Daisy, and Jesse Lopez-Padilla, all of Watsonville. He also leaves his mother, Consuelo Villarreal; brothers and sisters-in-law; Manuel and Maria de Jesus Padilla, and Guillermo and Elvira Padilla, all of Tracy, CA; Arturo and Elodia Padilla of Santa Cruz, along with his two sisters and brother-in-law Martha and Salvador Hernandez of Stockton, and Elda Padilla of Mexico. Friends and family may pay their respects at a viewing from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014. A Catholic Blessing Ceremony will then take place at 2 p.m. at the chapel.
