Ricky Rhett

Obituary of Ricky L. Rhett

A funeral ceremony will be held in Santa Cruz on Friday, for Ricky Rhett who unexpectedly passed away from heart failure, while at work this past Sunday. Rick was born in San Jose, California, and he was 59 years old. He moved from San Jose to the San Lorenzo Valley as a youth with his family, and attended San Lorenzo Valley High School. He lived here for the past 44 years, and leaves numerous friends, colleagues, and fellow co-workers in the construction industry. Rick was an accomplished craftsman and enjoyed building and repair projects with family, friends and at work. At the time of his passing, Rick was employed with Home Depot in Capitola, and he will be missed by people he called his Home Depot "family". Rick loved his dog, Duke, who was his constant companion. He liked to go on bike rides with friends in the Santa Cruz Mountains and at Wilder Ranch. He also enjoyed golf with brother and sisters. They let him play even though he was a left-handed golfer! Ricky was always willing to help his friends with a chore or job that needed attention. His dedication and the simple way in which he lived, appreciating what gifts he had, were a testament to his kind and gentle manner. Although opinionated at times, Ricky was sincere, and could be found often reading his Bible in solitude. He is survived by: his mother, Mary Rhett of Modesto, his sons, Ricky L. Ingram (Sonny) of Florida, and Nathaniel Rhett of Soquel, his daughters, Carrie Banker of Felton, and Chrystal Rhett of Scotts Valley, his sisters, Dorothy Herceg of Felton, Fredda Dunn of Modesto, and his brother Dennis Rhett of New York. And of course many nephews and nieces who loved him. Friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday evening, April 24, at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be at the chapel on Friday, April 25, beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will be private. Donations in his memory can be made to SPCA, 2685 Chanticleer Ave, Santa Cruz. To light a candle and share your thoughts with his family, please visit www.pacificgardens chapel.com
