Obituary of Donald Sani

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday for Donald Sani who passed away in Santa Cruz on April 13, following a lengthy illness. He was 79 years old. Born in California, he was raised in Oakland, and attended grammar school there. His family later moved to Healdsburg, California, where he graduated from Healdsburg High School. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, and upon his discharge, joined the US Army Reserves; serving an additional 22 years in the reserves. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant in the Armored Division. Mr. Sani began a second career that spanned another 20 years with Plantronics, working as a communications supplier. He leaves many dear friends and colleagues that he enjoyed working with at Plantronics, and his cousins and extended family will cherish the many memories and stories that he would share with them about his adventures in the field of military communications. He moved to the Santa Cruz area 50 years ago, and was a long time parishioner of Holy Cross Church, and an avid movie buff. He will be deeply missed by his loving cousins. Mr. Sani was preceded in death by his mother and father, Georgina and Louie Sani. The mass will be celebrated on Wednesday April 23, 2014 at Holy Cross Church (126 High Street) in Santa Cruz, beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Santa Cruz.
