Obituary of Gene Alden Moore II

Gene Moore, a native of Tracy California and resident of Scotts Valley passed away on November 29 at home. Gene is survived by his wife Sophie, grandsons Jake and Casey Gombos, stepson Frank Gombos, father Gene Moore and brother Glenn Moore. He also is survived by his niece Mary Ellen North, husband Aaron and family, his nephew Michael Polyhronakis, wife Whitney and son Glenden, and nephew Matthew Polyhronakis. Additionally, he had many aunts, uncles and cousins, dear life-long friends and respected colleagues. He worked in several high tech computer companies as a software engineer, architect and user interface designer. Gene was a member of his high school jazz band and continued to play jazz trumpet. He loved music and took every opportunity to either play or listen to it. He was an avid science fiction and movie aficionado with James Bond, Star Trek and Dr. Who topping the list of favorites. A memorial service for Gene will be held on December 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall at the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church at 223 Church Street in Santa Cruz. The service will be officiated by Father Tom Paris, Father Milutin Janjic and Dr. Stan Taylor. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, Gene's wish would have been to make donations to the High School All Star Jazz Bands at the Monterey Jazz Festival, education programs. https://www.montereyjazzfestival.org/contribute
