I have many fond memories of Lydia at her store - particularly during Open houses, and presentations on various issues and products. She will be remembered for her passion and warm smile easily sharing her knowledge on a wide range of things. She will be missed for sure. Blessings to the family as you deal with your loss of such a dear one.

I knew Lydia through her work at GreenSpace. Her passion for her work, authenticity, and dedication was palpable when I worked with her on our home projects. She was a lovely person and will be greatly missed by the Santa Cruz community. Sending condolences to her lovely circle of family and friends.

I attended West Valley College with Lydia and we worked on a Designer Showcase together. She was always completely professional, passionate, helpful and fun. I sent many clients to the store when I was ill and couldn't commit to work projects. She was a great role model for her staff and I truly appreciate the courtesy that was always extended to me and my clients.
I am still crying for this terrible loss-to her dear family (she talked about her daughter with such pride and joy), her staff, the Santa Cruz community and the design community. I know she touched many lives as she deeply touched mine.
I will keep all of you in my heart.

Lydia will be greatly missed. Her sage advice abounds in our home: she was so knowledgeable and guided us to so many great resources. She thought of things we hadn't even considered and they worked out so well. We had visited many times with her in the store over the years but grew to know her even better when we consulted with her on our home and kitchen rejuvenation. We will miss her laugh and her love of life.

Lydia was an amazing and inspiring human. I'm among the many she touched with her quick wit, determination, and passion for life and the environment. May we all live to have such a positive impact on the people around us and the planet we live. Over the 6 years I was at Yolo Colorhouse, Lydia was truly one of my favorite indie retailers. Even on the most stressful of days, she was always positive and hopeful. She was a beautiful bright light and will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences for her family and the many friends she leaves behind. Wishing you peace, and sending love and light.

I have many warm memories of Lydia's energy and passion for making a difference. I met with her early in my journey to launch a green building website. After I'd described the vision, she responded "And why do you want to do this?" That question echoed in my head many times over the subsequent years. She stepped in to help and support others' dreams repeatedly. Lydia brought inspiration and a happy love of life to everything she touched. I'm grateful for her help and energy and the laughs.

Brian and Isabel,
Our thoughts and love are with you daily. A wise person was counseling me about the loss of my mother and she reminded me that all those memories are just as alive now as they were before she passed. For some reason that really helped me smile more. We won’t get any new ones but we all have so many amazing moments that we can cherish in our hearts. She was such a special person. So much love.

I am sad for the world's loss of Lydia. She was kind, committed and knowledgeable. I still recall the joyful feeling of community while sitting in the shop watching the Botany of Desire with a group of people I didn't know while being surrounded by lovely natural things from her shop. In addition, it was with a few referrals from Lydia that I built my Santa Cruz Softgoods workroom business until moving to London in 2011. Since then I've had to follow remotely through the newsletters. I offer my condolences to her family and friends. Thank you Lydia for being an inspiration, you will me missed.

I am shocked and saddened by the news. Lydia you have created a great store and community for people like me who want to live in a home with the least amount of chemical possible. And through those tough months remodeling our house (while being pregnant and going through some family medical scares), you are one of those people who brightened my days and touched my heart. RIP.

I met Lydia back in 2009 at her wonderful store. I was remodeling and she said she wanted to see my kitchen layout per my architect’s design. She was respectful but said that architects don’t typically “get” kitchen design. She made some significant changes that made it so useable and functional! She didn’t charge me...she just wanted to help a clueless person. (That would be me.)
I’m so sad to hear of her passing.

I only met Lydia twice and her generosity and kindness has stayed with me as a model for community and business!
The very first time I visited the store (then on Soquel),I asked about ways I could throw a party without using paper products -- where could I rent glassware and tableware?
She looked behind the counter and said, "I have plenty of glasses. Would you like to borrow them?"
Borrow? Wow! I was shocked and felt so welcomed into the community.
I loved shopping at the store -- knowing that whatever I was purchasing was something Lydia supported. I trusted her judgement!
My condolences are with all of you who knew her well -- I know she will be very missed!

I'm so sorry to hear of Lydia's passing. I made many visits to greenspace when I was planning my home remodel, and Lydia helped guide me through the many choices with warmth, encouragement, and enthusiasm.
My home, like so many in our area, is far better thanks to Lydia's contributions. I offer my sincerest condolences to her family and friends.
