Rosalind "Ros" Lake, mother, wife, Grandmother "Yemma", sister and friend to many passed away October 12, 2013 at the age of 72 from heart complications. Ros was born in San Mateo and at the age of 8 moved to Santa Cruz where she lived her entire life. At the age of 14, Ros met the love of her life Ed Lake, and at the age of 18 they were wed and maintained a strong marriage for 53 years. Ros worked as decorator consultant for over 20 years at Sherwin Williams Paint in Santa Cruz with Ed who managed the store for over 32 years. When Rosalind retired she enjoyed a career as a volunteer. She volunteered for the Sunshine Ministries, Higher Grounds Coffee Hut, Hope 4 Women International and People's Pantry, all through Twin Lakes Church. She also volunteered at the Siena House, the Daisy Auxiliary of Santa Cruz to name only a few. She enjoyed giving and helping others and was a very selfless person. Rosalind always had time to listen to someone who needed to talk and opened her home when someone needed a warm place to stay. She possessed an easy going spirit, had a strong faith, and was full of wisdom. Rosalind and Ed raised 4 children. Debbie Wolcott of Roseburg Oregon; Pam Samuelson of Santa Cruz; Eric Lake of Soquel, and their son Douglas Lake who preceded them in death at the age of 15. They also have 4 grandchildren, Sarah May Lake of Soquel, Haley Wolcott Gentry of Medford Oregon, and Ryan and Tyler Samuelson of Santa Cruz. Her siblings, Colby Colyear of Ukiah, CA, Karen Locke of Eugene Oregon, and Charles Colyear of Yakima, Washington. Her brother Curtis Colyear and sister Roberta Arneson of Washington also preceded her in death. Ros enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and one of her specialties was homemade soup. Ed enjoyed a bowl of soup for lunch every day. A Memorial Service will be held for Rosalind at Twin Lakes Church, 2701 Cabrillo College Drive in Aptos, on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10:30 am.
