Obituary of Patience Ivy Hiatt

A farewell ceremony is planned for Patience Hiatt, who at 41 years of age passed away unexpectedly at her Gilroy home following a very brief illness. Born in Carmichael, California, she graduated from Amador High School, and attended Cabrillo College. Upon completion of the dental assisting courses offered at Cabrillo, Patience began a career in Santa Cruz, at Dr. Tim Znamirowski's practice, where she remained for over 18 years. She was universally loved and respected by her many friends, patients and coworkers alike. Nurturing and kindness were a second nature to Patience, she was a devoted wife and mother who encouraged her daughter's academic success, moving to Gilroy to allow Chloe to be in the Gate program. She made everyone around her feel special and loved. Even in her work Patience was a great deal more than an organized office manager and a skilled dental assistant, she had this wonderful and charismatic ability to lift the spirits of everyone with whom she interacted, so we all walked out feeling better than when we had walked in. She had a passion for cooking and enjoyed watching the Food Channel to learn new ways to prepare meals for family and friends. She had a great sense of humor, and a love for all animals, including her cats and her guinea pig. Her passing leaves a very deep void in the lives of her family, coworkers, and the many friends that she made throughout the years. She is survived by her husband Rod Gonzales of Gilroy, her daughter Chloe Hiatt Gonzales of Gilroy, her parents, Alan and Marsha Hiatt of Fiddletown, CA; maternal grandmother, Ruth Leisure of Sun City, AZ; her three brothers: Seth and Cyrus Hiatt of Mt. View, CA; and Joel Hiatt of Cupertino. She also leaves her uncle Paul Leisure of San Diego, CA and a host of loving extended family and friends who will try to cope with this loss, and give blessing to Patience's new journey. A memorial service will be held on October 25th, at Highlands Park in Ben Lomond CA, starting at noon until 3pm.
