Obituary of Stanley E. Prolo

Santa Cruz native, Stanley "Pops" Eugene Prolo Sr. passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2014. Stan was born on October 3, 1928 at Sisters Hospital to Eugene and Merle Prolo. He attended Mission Hill Elementary and graduated from Bellarmine High School. Upon completion of High School he attended GM Dealer School in Detroit. Moved back to Santa Cruz to go into partnership with his father at Prolo Chevrolet. In the car industry Stan was well respected as man of honor and integrity. Faith, Community, Family and friendship was top priority to him. He was a leader and mentor to all the lives he touched. In 1958 he met the love of his life and Stan and Muriel were married on February 8, 1959 for over 55 wonderful years. During their marriage and retirement they had the opportunity to travel the world and make many happy memories. But most of all his greatest joy was time spent with his family and friends. Stan enjoyed giving back to his community and served on many advisory boards-Dominican Hospital, Holy Cross Church, Grand Jury Foreman, Lions Club, Elks Club, Toastmaster, 40 Thieves and most of all his men's coffee group with long time Santa Cruzan's. Stan is survived by his wife, Muriel and four children, Joni McDonough (John), Stacy Craig, Stan Prolo Jr. (Maura) and Marci grandchildren Hailey, Sean, Collin, Anthony, Christina, Carly, Brennan(Buzz), and Conor. His sister Diana Prolo Raggio and his many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded is death by his daughter Kimberly and his parents. A memorial mass will be held at Holy Cross Church on September 26, 2014 at 10:30 am. Immediately following the mass there will be a celebration of his life at Hollins House.
