Obituary of Ralph Lee Charles Wimer

"A Gentle Soul" Ralph Lee Charles Wimer passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 with his family in his presence, he was 76 years old. Ralph was raised in Sharon, PA and Sunnyvale CA. He graduated from Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, CA. He attended St. Joseph's College in Los Altos, CA and St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park, CA. Ralph has resided in Sunnyvale and San Jose. He moved to Soquel, CA in 1977 where he has resided to the present time. Ralph served in the California National Guard. He worked for Pacific Bell as a Sales Representative from 1962 to 1986. Ralph went on to work as an Independent Insurance Agent, sales at Gottschalks and sales at the Sears Auto Department. Ralph was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Knights of Columbus of Los Gatos, Lions Club of Soquel, and a member of St. Joseph's Church in Capitola. He enjoyed volunteering for St. Joseph's Church where he taught CCD and was a Lector for many years and driving the shuttle for Dominican Oaks. He enjoyed watching his son Stephen play football for the PAL, Soquel High School, Cabrillo College and St. Mary's College. He also enjoyed reading, telling jokes, cooking and talking to people. He spent many years rescuing feral cats in his neighborhood. He was a fan of the San Francisco Giants and the Forty-Niners. Ralph enjoyed many days sitting out on his deck enjoying the sun and the nature all around him which he called, "God's Grace". Ralph will always be remembered for being a loyal, loving and kind family man, he always took the time to listen and help people. Whenever you saw Ralph, he had a smile on his face, he was a gentle soul. Ralph is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Ann Wimer; his son, Stephen Wimer (Kathy); his daughter; Mary Ann Kelly (John), and his brother, John Wimer. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sophie Wimer and John Wimer; his nieces and nephews, Donna Morgan (Richard), John Wimer (Susan), Kathleen Altknecht (David), Barbara Campbell (David), Thomas Wimer (Linda), Eileen Rider (Thomas) and Theresa Giannosa (Angelo). A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 17, 2015 beginning at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society; Lupus Foundation; Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Lung Association.
