Obituary of David Joseph Mallen

David was born in Chicago, grew up in Los Angeles and met his loving wife Freda of 74 years in a Kibbutz in Israel, a place for young idealists looking for a new way of living.He and Freda later settled in Los Angeles raising 3 children, Wanda, Michael and Teresa.This lively couple traveled the world together enjoying its arts and cultures. Moving to Soquel in 1974, David built a beautiful home and spent many years creating gardens, ponds, a tea house and various projects around this lovely property.He was especially adept at growing chrysanthemums, lecturing on history, telling stories, playing racket ball and taking care of Freda in her later years.His strong spirit and constitution kept him mostly independent all his life...I'm writing this on your birthday dear dad, you almost made it to 99!
