Obituary of Sharon Lee Monroe

Services will be held in Santa Cruz on Monday for Sharon Lee Monroe who passed away of unexpected heart failure in Marysville, California on May 27th, 2014. Sharon would have celebrated her 61rst birthday next month. Born in Salinas, she attended Alisal High School and Hartnell College. She was familiar face at the local Moose Lodge where she managed the office and assisted her father, James B. Smith, who was the manager. For more than 30 years, Sharon worked in the domestic and health service industry; caring for toddlers and assisting with the duties of babysitting and child raising. She attended St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church in Salinas, and leaves many dear colleagues, family clients, and patients whom she enjoyed working for. Sharon had a passion for the outdoors, and trips to Yosemite were her favorite. Most of her vacation time was spent there, and there will be many fond memories shared by her family of special times spent camping and hiking. Sharon was an avid collector of snow globes and "Beanie Babies", and very proud of her collection. A self-professed QVC enthusiast, she was always shopping for things to help and improve the lives of the people she cared for. She is survived by her husband Robert Monroe of Watsonville, her son and daughter, Shane Michael Monroe and Danielle Rose Monroe both of Salinas; her stepdaughters; Shannon Hutton of Live Oak, and Dorinda Monroe of Salinas; her brother, James B. Smith III of Bakersfield; a niece, two nephews, and many loving extended family members.
