Esther Edgar

Obituary of Esther Cantery Edgar

Esther Cantery Edgar, R.N. left us peacefully July 9 after 77 years of giving. Born in Pinamungahan, Cebu, Philippines, Esther was one of nine daughters born to Moises and Ponciana Cantery. She was a graduate of the Philippine Union College School of Nursing, Class of 1960 with whom she shared a lifetime of friendship. She was a critical care nurse for over 45 years. Esther played the guitar and the piano. She was an avid Lakers fan, and she loved pecan pie and The Beatles. Esther resided in three countries and spoke four languages, and everywhere she lived she planted roses. She would never admit it, but she was the life of the party. With John Edgar she had four children; Paul, Brian, Diane and Darlene, and she taught them how to create lasting memories and how to love fiercely. Her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren; Ryan, Serena, Matthew, Hunter, and Nika. Esther was a member of the Santa Cruz Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She lived simply and gratefully. If you would like to honor Esther in some way, there is no need to send flowers. She would prefer that you thank a nurse. Thank you, Mom. We are grateful.
