I met Scott in 1975 at San Diego State University. at the Zura dorm....we all became fast friends, sharing so many laughs and good times. We were family, the way that college friends are...living so close together... even after the dorms, our group of friends shared apartments in close proximity. I will never forget the night that Scott did not return from work...his roommates called all around with no success. Even the local hospitals were an initial dead end as I think he was a John Doe for a brief time. I remember his family moved him to a hospital in Santa Monica ( closer to them and better skilled in head injuries) and I drove up to visit him. I brought him a teddy bear and my heart broke to see him in that hospital bed. Over the years, I lost touch with Scott...though I always thought of him and held him in my heart. He was kind, smart, witty and sweet. I loved him. RIP my sweet friend.

Cousin Scott,
I treasure the memories of the summer we spent in the beach house in Playa del Rey. You, me, Rich and Steve bicycled around your backyard, played endlessly on the beach, went grunion hunting at night with our parents and spent Friday evenings sipping Frescas and watching “The Man From Uncle”. It was a fabulous summer.
You have always had a smile and a friendly word for anyone you met Scott and were especially loving to family.
I will miss you,
your cousin Kristin

Here are a few photos I have of Scott and his “Chubby Buddy” Marvin...Scott picked Marvin out of a litter of kittens that were being given away. That was 15 years ago! They had quite a connection, through thick and thin they were together...When Scott moved over here to SC we had to put Marvin in a kitty resort, he hated it, wouldn’t come out of his cage. When Scott and I went to pick him up to bring him to Scott’s new place, he and Scott just kept meowing at each other all the way there. As you can see from the photos they were very happy at their new home! I will miss all of our laughs together Lil Brother!

I got to know the Hamlin Family many years ago. I was accepted as part of their family, for which I will always be grateful. We have had many family dinners together and many included Scotty. Scotty had the best of all temperaments. He was most always happy and easy going. He especially had a desire to please his mom. He was a conscientious and helpful son to her...escorting her in to restaurants, helping her in to the car. Scotty loved his family and he loved his cat. Scotty loved to laugh and had a quick wit. Just FUN to be around.
I will miss you Scotty,
Pam Goodman

My connection with Scott was through my Sister Susan, who was recently married to Scott's Brother, Richard. The brief times I spent with Scott, I found him to be open, warm and friendly. Of special note was discovering Scott and I shared a kindred sense of humor. He will be missed.

Scott was amazingly thoughtful of others; as an example, I will never forget the following story that he shared. After lamenting that I had incurred a speeding ticket he related an encounter he had had a few years ago with a highway patrolman. It went like this: he began, "I was coming home from Reno after a weekend gambling and I wasn't drunk or anything but I passed a CHP going the opposite direction. So I exited my direction and got back on the freeway and chased him down." .... I'm thinking, where is this going? Did Scott have some kind of emergency he needed to report? ... he went on, "so I caught up with the patrolman, flashed my high beams, and he pulled over. We both got out at the same time and he had his hand on his gun but I held my hands up so he could see them, and he asked what I needed. I told him I meant no harm -- I just wanted to thank him for all his good service to the community!" That was Scott; he was always going out of his way to thank total strangers for whatever he appreciated about them.
