Dick was such a kind and gentle man. He had a beautiful soul and was so giving to everyone he knew. I was always so grateful for the help and support he gave to my mom. Whether it was helping with things around the house, her garden, if she needed to borrow a tool or his truck, he was there for her. He will be deeply missed but will be forever in our hearts. We loved him so very much. My mom and I are having a tree planted in his name in remembrance of his love for gardening and the beauty and joy it brought us.
One of my fondest memories is my uncle Dick walking me down the aisle at my wedding. It meant the world to me. It was never a question of who it would be. I was so honored that he did that for me. Dick even grew my favorite sweet pea flowers for the wedding. They were so beautiful and I will never forget what he did for me. This man was one of the best human beings I know.
When I would see him during the holidays, those times were always special too. He would have the biggest smile on his face when my mom and I walked through the front door. His hugs were always so comforting to me. For years one of the things I looked forward to at Christmas time was his most wonderful clam chowder. You could tell it was made with love. It remains my favorite.
I am so blessed to have had him in my life. I will cherish my memories of him.
In memory of a wonderful father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend.
I love you Uncle Dick.

I am truly saddened by the loss of this dear and gentle man. Many many of us felt his kind love over the years and at times were sheltered by this wonderful family. I have been blessed to have been part of the lives of this beautiful family for the larger part of my life, my children also were embraced and welcomed during the lovely open houses at Ferrari Florist and other wonderful occasions.
I don't think I ever saw Dick frown. He was always warm and welcoming and kind to everyone. My heart goes out for everyone who knew him but mostly for Sue, Donny, and Erin and all of his friends and family, who will feel his physical loss deeply and for a very long time but have the most glorious memories to carry in their hearts forever.
The Dumller Family took me under their lovely wing, when I was young and fragile. Dick showed me how a real, loving father behaves with his children, how a real husband loves his wife, how a real man can be strong, and gentle at the same time. I am honored to have been able to see all of this, it gave me hope.
Please be gentle with yourselves, love his memory and know that in many ways he will always be with you.
I have a candle that I am lighting every day for the next 40 days for Dick. It is at my altar where very sacred things belong.
